MUST READ: Top 5 Jobs That Can Make Your Spouse Cheat On You

With the growing rate of marriage failures as a result of infidelity in Nigeria and beyond, JobTrends Nigeria decided to look into the epidemic from our own perspective and we realized that there are careers that makes couple more prone to having their marriages hit the rock.
Some couples are having a blistering career and are earning an enviable pay package, but they are still not happy because their marital life is at the receiving end of it. Don’t be deceived by the range rover vogue your friend drives, she really wished she could be like you and have her marriage intact. Don’t be deceived by the fact that some of this couples works in to church clinging to each other like they have it all perfect, it’s just a make-believe. Marriages are hitting the rocks every day in this country.

Below are a list of the top 5 careers (jobs) that can put your marriage on the brinks.

Note: I am not in any way advocating that these careers are bad, or that everybody in the career mentioned here is a victim. No. not at all.

• Offshore oil Jobs

Yes, the oil big boys are first on my list. Taking up a career in the oil industry as an offshore dude makes your marriage very porous. Some of my friends in that industry confided in me and they all have same problem. What is the problem? They earn an enviable some with benefits but they have just six months in a year to utilize anything they have acquired, including their wives.
Imagine when a guy works two weeks on, two weeks off. That makes it a cumulative six months on, six months off by the end of a year. God help you, your wife is the type that is promiscuous, and she knows she has six months of uninterrupted sexual escapades with the guy next door. Sorry bro.
One of my friend even complained to me that after paying for DSTV full bouquet for 12 months, he gets to watch it for only six months. It’s funny but, it’s that bad.
Also, do I need to mention that some companies deploy sex workers to their rigs on the high sea to reduce work hazards? In fact, this service I learnt has a good budget and it is outsourced to some core ‘HR Companies. Ladies beware.

• Aviation jobs (Pilots/Air Hostesses)

In addition to the usual “pilot’s wife syndrome” that is common amongst women married to pilots, some of them are also battling with the fact that her husband has a side chick in every state capital and country his plane touches. Not empirically proved though, but pilots are hot preys of eagle-eyed girls searching for fun and funds.

‘I don’t know about you, but I can’t marry an air hostess,’ a guy once told me. If your wife happens not to have her virtues intact, then she is the first dumping pot for the promiscuous pilots. To make matters worse, if she happens to be the bread winner of the family, you won’t just be battling with the fact that you are now the house-husband, but also the fact that you can’t even complain when she goes on numerous self-imposed trips with the high profile contacts she met on board. Not all of them sha o!

• Hospital (Doctors/Nurses)

A ‘quickie session’ is part of the job. Not their faults really. It takes a special hand of God to shield a young doctor from the advances of female patients that feel they owe their lives to them.
The nurses too. Their attire does not help matters at all. It could even pass for a sexual harassment case.

• SHOW BIZ ( actors, models, Music Artist, TV Personalities)

It’s not as if that marriage failure is high in this industry alone. We only get to hear about the rate of the divorce and separation in this industry because they are public figures. When you are deciding to pursue a career in this industry, be tactful and prayerful not to blossom in the industry at the expense of your marital life.

• LECTURING JOB

The fact that lecturers are vulnerable to cheating on their spouses is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. I know some university dons that live in the university community alone without their families. Some only get to see their family during weekends. Common, there is a pool of girls of easy virtue in our university communities today (I mean no disrespect to the female folks), but the number of girls in our higher institutions who are not ready to study is alarming, but at the end they come out in flying colors.
Don’t ask me how. Ask your husband.

Reviews: Weddings of Big Brother Couples who made 2015 loud and proud

Big Brother Africa is the biggest television show in Africa with viewers in over 20 countries on the continent. It requires a number of young men and women living together in a closed space for over 90 days. They have no outside contacts and they are not allowed to use their phones, computers or even watch television. For the period of the show, the only people they have are themselves and Big Brother.
What makes the show exciting is that after a while, the housemates start to develop relationship amongst themselves. The intrigues and intricacies of these affairs make for good television content and keep viewers glued to their set. The relationship of late Goldie and Prezzo is a very good example of such relationships. It was a big topic on social media for many weeks.
Unfortunately, these relationships made in Big Brother House are usually short lived and they end up in the house. This is not a surprising since the house mates come from different countries on the continent and they all go back to their various countries after the show. Also, contestants in the house are evicted one after the other on a weekly basis. So most times, while one love-bird is evicted, the other remains in the house.
However, there are a few who take their love outside the house and into the real world. Some even go as far as tying the knot on the long run.
See the list of BBA couples below who managed to take their love outside and made it for 2015:

Pokello and Elikem

In June this year, the 'controversial' ex-Big Brother couple, Pokello Nare and Elikem Kumordzie, AKA Polikem tied the knot. The couple had their traditional union with family and friends in attendance. It was held in Pokello's country home in Zimbabwe. The road to the altar was not a smooth one for the two, after taking part in the Big Brother show three years ago, the two had maintained the relationship they started in the house. For one, their each live in different region of the continent. Pokello lives in Zimbabwe while Elikem had been busy as an actor in his country Ghana.
Also, story broke out that Elikem was cheating on Pokello with an older lady called Gloria Lamptey. Elikem later confirmed the relationship but says he has ended it long time ago, but Gloria would not have any of it. In his explanation which he posted on Facebook, Eliekm explained, "I had an affair with Gloria Lamptey for four years before Big Brother. I tried to start a new life with Pokello but it seems my past won't allow." He said that Gloria even went as far as calling pokello, threatening her.
Love however found a way and Elikem and Pokello resumed their relationship. Their union marks the fourth marriage by housemates in Big Brother.

Macky 2 and Longtime Girlfriend Cheelo Haantinga

Popular Zambian rapper, Mark Mulaza Kaira popularly known as Macky2, MK, DJ Bugar or Flava Boy and longtime sweetheart, Cheelo Haantinga, tied the knot on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at a colorful ceremony in Lusaka.

It was a star studded affair as several renowned music acts and personalities in the entertainment circles pitched up at the event to lend support to the Big Brother Hotshots finalist as he exchanged vows with his beautiful bride, Haantinga.

Zambia's High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba, who was the guest of honour, wished the newly married couple the best in the journey that they have started.

The voluptuous  BBA star Mampi, T-Sean, Afunika and Macky2's brother Chef 187 were all part of the wedding line up.

Selly Galley and boyfriend Cartel Big J

BBA's representative Selly is a host on Joy Prime on Multi TV. She has acted in quite a number of movies and won Best Promising actress at the 2015 City People Entertainment Awards.

Selly recently was nominated for Ghana Movie Awards in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

The two "Selly and boyfriend Cartel Big J (Praye Tiatia)" had their traditional marriage on Thursday 24th September 2015 in Accra.

These unions marks the 2015 marriages by housemates in Big Brother Africa so far though they were other rumors Feza from Tanzania and Eazzy with Keitta of engaging again after their rumored divorce.

Things To Think About When You’re Looking For A Blog Host

The Hosting Leap

The truth is you could have an idea for a blog right now and be writing the first post for that blog ten minutes from now. There are a number of services who exist to make that transition from “non-blogger” to “blogger” almost painless.
All this comes at a price, though. There’s not much control given end users over the design of their blog, beyond the superficial, and usually your blog exists as a subdomain on their servers.
Most blogs die as the bloggers behind them get bored, busy, or tired, but some go on. That’s when we arrive at what, for most of us, is the first big hurdle of our blogging lives:
The jump from the group-hosted amateur to the serious blogger, with their own URL and hosting service. This is a pretty trivial task once you’ve done a time or two, but the initial foray into the world of potential hosting providers is a big leap!
There are a few things to think about, and we’re going to hit them in rapid succession.

Reliability of Reach

They call it the world wide web for a reason, but some hosting services are larger and provide better service over a larger area. You want to be certain that your potential hosting service is reliable and fast wherever you expect your target audience to reside.
Almost all hosting providers will be fairly reliable, but some will almost always be better than others.

Reliability of Uptime

This is a mostly separate concern from reach, though it’s rare to find a host who’s bad at one yet good at the other. When your server is down, users can’t access your site. Servers do go down from time to time, it’s a fact of internet life, and it’s nothing to panic about. That said, especially for people who monetized blogs, lost uptime is lost money. If your server downtime is too high, it may translate to lost readers on your blog, too.

How much downtime is too much downtime?

As you can see in this list most hosting providers have uptime the averages over 99%, and 99.9% is attainable. There’s no reason you should ever settle for average uptime below 99%.

Security

Do a quick search to make sure your host has a reliable record of security. For most purposes, this simply means that your hosting service is very conscientious about keeping the software running (and running on) their servers up-to-date.

Ease of Use

One of the few tangible differences between most hosting providers is their backend. Some providers are great, providing users with numerous services and clear pathways to get to the functions you are looking for. Others are difficult to navigate, or offer very limited services.
GoDaddy, for example, has a back-end which is obviously designed to shunt users to screens offering upsells on various products, with no priority on user experience; they want you to have to click through as many screens as possible to perform any function you are attempting.
Any host which does not offer FTP/SSH access is probably best avoided.

Expense

Many of the hosting services which advertise most actively to novices are considerably more expensive, relative to services offered, than other hosting options. This is often made up for in extremely responsive customer service options.
If you want someone to talk you through any problems, it may be worth the extra expense, if you’re a confident DIY enthusiast, save yourself the money.

Other Concerns

All these factors should be on your mind,  but there may be others as well. For example, some hosting providers are green companies, or it might be important to you to select a host operating out of your home country.
The good news is there is plenty of help available out there! First Site Guide, we go into more detail on the host selection process (and more of the nuts and bolts), so feel free to take at our guide a look or ask us if you have more questions.
